Fatal Oxnard Crash and the Top Causes of Aviation Accidents in the U.S.

Fatal Oxnard Crash and the Top Causes of Aviation Accidents in the U.S.
Flying gives you a great feeling. It pumps up your adrenaline and makes you feel free momentarily. It gives you a different perspective of the world as it gives you a birds-eye view of your surroundings. It gets you into places that you have never been, faster. However, aircrafts are rather harder to operate and could also be dangerous. That is why you have to undergo extensive training so that you will be allowed to operate an aircraft.

Bad fall

Not too long ago, two people were killed when a small aircraft crashed in Oxnard, California. Firefighters rushed to the scene to put out the fire engulfing the plane that was destroyed because of the impact. Authorities say the aircraft was headed to the Oxnard Airport. Officials are withholding information about the crash as they are still in the process of determining what caused it.

Top causes of plane crashes

Boeing, one of the biggest aircraft makers in the world, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, and website planecrashinfo.com have recently conducted a study to determine the reasons why planes crash and they found out that:

·         Pilot error is the leading cause of aircraft crashes. According to the study, 50 percent of recorded crashes are due to the inability of the pilot in making the right decision to avoid crashes. Pilot errors are worsened by bad weather conditions, some mechanically-induced error and math-related or computation errors by the pilot.

·         Mechanical failure is the next most common cause of plane crashes recorded. The study reveals that 22 percent of all the recorded aircraft mishaps are caused by problems in the plane’s mechanicals. Specific causes of mechanical failure are negligence in the plane’s maintenance, design flaws of their aircraft, structural failure, and fueling errors.

·         The third most common cause of airplane crashes are caused by bad weather conditions. Based on the findings in the recent study, wind shears, extreme turbulence, strong storms, random lightning strikes, among other odd weather conditions cause planes to malfunction and eventually come crashing down.

·         Sabotage also plays a vital role why crashes happen. The study suggests that criminal activities such as hijacking and planes being shot down cause these go crashing.
