The details of the accident
The accident happened in the afternoon of November 30. He was with his friend, Roger Rodas, 38, who is a former professional race car driver and was previously Walker’s financial adviser, inside the latter’s red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT. They were just leaving from Walker’s Reach Out Worldwide charity event for the Typhoon Haiyan victims when the Porsche struck a light pole and tree on a street near Kelly Johnson Parkway in Santa Clarita.
Authorities who responded to the scene soon after saw the car engulfed in flames. They also determined that Rodas was the driver of the Porsche, while Walker was the passenger. The Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department confirmed that both of them died at the scene. The county coroner’s office revealed that Rodas died of multiple traumatic injuries, while Walker died as an effect of both thermal and traumatic injuries.
Incidentally, the street where the accident occurred happened to be a popular spot for drifting cars. Investigations revealed that the car was believed to be running at around 90 miles per hour before it crashed. It was also initially thought that plastic road bumps, also known as Botts’ Dots, where the reason why the vehicle lost control, which Walker’s family claimed amidst the investigations.
